Teaching

Dylan first found his love of teaching at the Pingree School, where he would help teach improvisation classes during his senior year.

Dylan was a member of the education staff of Theater in the Open, where he taught acting, improv, and Shakespeare from 2015 to 2023. In 2019 he became the Co-Director of Summer Arts Workshop at Theater in the Open. He worked with students aged 8 to 14, encouraging young people to find their voice, embrace creative problem solving, and develop teamwork through theatre. He developed and taught the Exploring Shakespeare workshop, engaging teens with the work of William Shakespeare.

Dylan was the Education and Access Associate at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston, Massachusetts, from 2018-2020. Dylan taught theatre to 10th graders at the Codman Academy Public Charter School, as well as coached students across Boston for the Poetry Out Loud contest and the August Wilson Monologue Competition. He is the co-author of the Curriculum Guides for Man in the Ring and Romeo and Juliet. He developed and managed the Huntington @ Homeschool program that was launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, putting theatre education into the hands of classroom teachers who were teaching remotely.

Between 2020 and 2023, Dylan was an apprentice coach with Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, coaching college students on classical monologues, focusing on characterization and text work.

Dylan has taught guest lectures at Suffolk University with Professor Iani Moreno, regarding the works of Hugo Salcedo and performing theatre in Spanish, and has been a guest Shakespeare coach at Point Park University with Sharon McCune. He served as a Teaching Assistant for Kristina Fluty’s Laban Movement class and Nicole Ricciardi’s Heightened Modern Text class at the Theatre School at DePaul University.

Administrative Work

He joined the administrative staff at Theater in the Open in 2017, and held various positions through 2023, including Marketing and Development Coordinator and Associate Producer. As a member of the administration, Dylan organized the annual Circus Smirkus fundraiser, coordinating between the travelling youth circus, Theater in the Open, and municipal offices in Newbury, MA. The 2017-2019 events were the most financially successful Circus Smirkus fundraisers in Theater in the Open history.

Dylan served on the Production Management Committee for S.T.A.M.P. 2018, the theatre collective made up of seniors at the BU School of Theatre.
